Lab Head

Gokhan received his undergraduate degree from Middle East Technical University (METU) and his PhD from Vanderbilt University, where he studied protein trafficking and genetic disease using zebrafish models. In 2019, he joined the laboratory of Kıvanç Birsoy at The Rockefeller University, where he investigated how oncogenic alterations shape tumor metabolism and metabolic vulnerabilities using organelle-specific metabolomics and functional genomics. His postdoctoral research was supported by a Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation Fellowship and an NCI K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award. In December 2026, he joined the Sloan Kettering Institute at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as an Assistant Member.
